All About Attitude

Negativity in the Workplace
Pessimism and negativity spread like wildfire if not contained, and the effects can be devastating. Morale and motivation will plummet. Productiveness will dwindle. The building will not be a place that anyone wants to be in, including the children if negativity is not under control. Directors and staff members need to be conscious of what is going on, as well as the general attitude of the center. If you hear someone being negative, gently try and redirect them. Try talking about something else that is positive, add humor to the situation, or reassure them that everything will be alright. No one should have to work in a perpetually negative environment.
Dealing with Stress
Teaching is no doubt one of the most difficult jobs. From long hours to low wages, the stresses of childcare providers are higher than ever. However, it is how you deal with the daily stresses that makes you a standout teacher. The following are some suggestions for gaining optimism and managing stress at work.
Tips for Staying Positive:

Remember why you became an educator.
As tough as teaching is, it is also insanely rewarding. If you need to, keep a journal to write down one positive thing that happened that day.

Know your limits.
If you are close to reaching your breaking point, ask for another qualified employee to watch your children for a moment while you cool off and compose yourself.

Remember you’re a model.
Everything that you do in that classroom, students can see and feel.

Surround yourself with positivity.
Don’t fall into the habit of venting with coworkers about the things that are going wrong. Befriend people that have encouraging and productive things to say.

Take care of yourself.
Stress flourishes when you are not healthy. Be sure you are getting enough sleep and eating properly.
